The maintenance log in Trabzon opens with humidity: in this basin where much of the year passes rainy, every metal component in the field is in a race with corrosion. Add to this the shell dust from hazelnut processing lines, the heat from roasting furnaces, the storage belt behind the port, and the hotels extending to Uzungöl; our team departing from Ankara arrives at the Trabzon stop of the Eastern Black Sea coastal tour with a separate control checklist for each of these four agenda items.

What does Black Sea humidity and salty air do to the system?

Throughout the year, Trabzon experiences high humidity, and the coastal strip is exposed to salt-laden sea air. In the maintenance log, this translates to corrosion: outdoor hydrant caps and valve stems become difficult to turn, fire cabinet hinges and hose couplings oxidize, and in unheated pump rooms, humidity degrades electrical panels and batteries. On the detector side, moisture can cause unidentified fault signals on circuit boards. For this reason, corrosion and humidity control is a separate line item in Trabzon service rounds: in hydrant and fire cabinet maintenance mechanical assemblies are tested not only by visual inspection but also by operation, in pump maintenance panel and battery measurements are recorded. In buildings on sloped terrain, pressure zoning also goes on the list: excessive pressure in the lower zone and insufficient flow in the upper zone can occur in the same building.

Arsin roasts, the harbor stacks, Uzungöl weighs

Trabzon is the trade and service hub of East Black Sea; the backbone of industry Arsin OSB carries. In the region where around eighty facilities operate, food, plastics, and metal production lead; to the west of the province, Beşikdüzü and Vakfıkebir OSBs are developing. The city's true character is defined by hazelnuts: approximately one-third of Turkey's hazelnut exports pass through Trabzon; processing facilities producing cracking, sizing, roasting, and grinding are distributed from the Arsin–Yomra line to outlying districts.

The second ring is the port: Trabzon Port handles containers, general cargo, and bulk loads; behind this gateway serving the Caucasus and Black Sea basin lies a belt of warehouses and storage facilities. The third ring is tourism: city hotels and wood-dominated accommodation facilities around Uzungöl fill every season. Add to this major health structures like KTÜ Farabi Hospital; this creates four separate maintenance agendas.

A maintenance shift stretching from coastal road to highlands

Shell-dust detector fools twice

In the crushing and screening section, fine shell-dust suspended in air settles in the optical detector's measurement chamber and fools the device twice: first it triggers the siren when there is actually no smoke, then it fails to detect real smoke promptly. For this reason, in Arsin rounds, detection work begins with cleaning before measurement; how devices are handled is explained step by step on the fire detection maintenance page. Around the roasting oven and cooling belt, a detector that reads heat more than smoke is needed; spark carry-over is evaluated on the elevator and silo line. Shell and chaff residues are themselves a combustible storage; in bagged product warehouses, sprinkler coverage is compared with stacking plans.

Port-area warehouse stacking increased

Cargo in the warehouse is variable; in the section where two layers of pallets were stacked last year, three layers stand this year. With the ceiling sprinklers unchanged, the protected volume changes. On the round, rack layout is compared with on sprinkler placement, static-dynamic pressure is measured in the hydrant circulation, and duration testing of emergency lighting is performed in large warehouse volumes.

Pre-season hotel on the Uzungöl road

In wood-dominant accommodation structures, fire spreads rapidly and buildings are full at night. Before the season opens, emergency lighting duration test and hood suppression control are completed; we also recommend a brief alarm drill with the reception team at the panel.

The maintenance vehicle route enters from Samsun and exits from Of

We have no office or sign in Trabzon; our team departs from Ankara and covers East Black Sea on a single route. The vehicle entering the coast from Samsun completes stops in Ordu and Giresun before reaching Trabzon; within the province, whichever facility is scheduled from Akçaabat to Of is visited in the same service window. This arrangement has two concrete benefits for operations: your maintenance date is written into the calendar weeks in advance, and the same team that knows the facility comes each time — the valve noted in the last round is not forgotten in this one. The effect of the tour organization on maintenance pricing is explained on the relevant page. For fault reports, diagnosis comes first, travel second: when the panel code and a few site photos reach us, the fault source is usually identified before the call ends; because the East Black Sea route is long, this diagnosis determines what goes in the van, and we arrive at your facility with the card and parts suited to your panel. The framework for this process is set by nationwide service, the fault aspects by emergency repair service, and the scope of testing by periodic inspection on the page.

For a Trabzon-based operation, this model's equivalent is a single folder: the detector monitoring the roasting line, the gaseous suppression in the panel room, the warehouse sprinklers, the hydrant and pump unit behind the wharf all meet under one contract; an operation wanting maintenance of the cameras overlooking the port area (CCTV) adds this to the same folder. The replacement of a coupling worn out by humidity, a cabinet door with a cracked window, or a detector that has reached end of life product stock is set aside and loaded onto the tour vehicle. Add your facility to the Black Sea tour route: contact send your system inventory from the page or You can callcall and register for the Trabzon stop.

To Set Up Your Maintenance Program

One contract, a solution for everything: we provide end-to-end maintenance to fire detection, gas suppression, sprinkler, hydrant, and pump units in their entirety; if you wish, camera (CCTV) system maintenance can also be added to the same contract.

If you do not have the brand, age, and last maintenance record of the existing system on hand, that is not a problem; the first step is anyway inventory and current condition assessment. Setting up an annual program without seeing what is there in the field means selling maintenance for a system that does not exist.

You can examine your system brand's product equivalents in our product catalog ; for requirements specific to your facility's use class, you can visit our sectoral solutions pages.

For survey and quotation you can or send your plan through our write or directly You can call call the number. Survey is free within Ankara; for facilities throughout Turkey, the visit plan is established jointly before contract.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our cold storage facility in Of has sections operating at sub-zero temperatures; how do detection and maintenance operate under these conditions?

Low-temperature detector selection is determined by conditions: standard optical detectors do not operate reliably in freezing sections; during survey, existing inventory is reviewed and appropriate detection type and placement are evaluated. Machine room, control room and evaporator perimeter are separately added to the maintenance schedule. Facilities in Sürmene, Akçaabat, Vakfıkebir and Beşikdüzü along with Of fall within the scope of the Trabzon station; the tour does not end at the OSB boundary.

When harvest extends into September, which time window do you schedule pump and valve tests in?

Heavy tasks that require facility shutdown or line draining — pump performance test, sprinkler valve tests — are scheduled in months outside the harvest season. During season, work that does not affect production proceeds: detector cleaning carried out section by section in sequence, cylinder weighing, emergency lighting inspection. We obtain your harvest calendar at the initial meeting and establish contract dates accordingly.

We operate a wooden hotel at Uzungöl; cable routing is difficult, what do you recommend on the detection side?

Opening cable conduit in wooden structures is both costly and damaging to the fabric; in such buildings, wireless addressed detectors or extension of existing wiring with protection is evaluated jointly during survey. On the maintenance side, priority is the night scenario: alarm audibility in rooms, emergency lighting duration test and ensuring the reception panel is understandable to staff.

Our hydrant and cabinet components corroded from sea air; do you also replace parts during maintenance?

We do. During the tour, corroded valves, couplings, nozzles and cabinet components are photographed and added to the replacement list; parts to be replaced are either installed during the same visit or prepared for the next tour depending on stock availability. Parts are supplied from our own product stock, and the replacement is recorded in the report with date.

During a stormy night the panel faulted; is it correct to silence the system and wait until morning?

No — a completely silenced system leaves the facility most vulnerable that night. When you contact us, we establish together which zone is deactivated based on the code displayed and a few photographs; temporary measures such as posting a guard in that area or halting hot work ensure safe passage to morning. If on-site intervention is required, the team is dispatched with a backup card appropriate to your panel type; we do not venture on a blind journey.
