Bosch fire panels are installed with a card-based, modular architecture: the controller, cycle card, power supply, and battery controller are separate units mounted individually in the same enclosure. Therefore, when a fault is correctly diagnosed, most of the time it is not complete panel replacement, but rather single module replacement. On this page we explain the scope of maintenance, our fault approach, and spare module procurement for Bosch FPA and AVENAR systems.

In Bosch fire detection systems — from the widely deployed FPA series in the field to the next-generation AVENAR 2000 and AVENAR 8000 panels — we perform periodic maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and spare module supply. At Bosch, the Fault is in the Module, Not the Panel

Bosch's panel architecture is modular from end to end: in the AVENAR panel, the controller, loop cards, battery management module, and power supply are separate units mounted and dismounted individually in the same enclosure; even the housings are referred to as "6-module enclosure" or "12-module expansion." The manufacturer takes this architecture so seriously that even the panel's brain is listed in the catalog as a spare part — FPE-8000-FMR, AVENAR 8000 spare panel controller is listed as. In practice, this means: in a correctly diagnosed fault, the system is not completely replaced, only the faulty module is changed, the configuration is restored, and the facility is back up and running shortly.

In this architecture, the most expensive mistake is misdiagnosis: the symptom may be in the module, but the root cause may be in the field. The following table summarizes which unit the symptoms most commonly seen in the field point to:

Which Bosch Systems Do We Service?

  • AVENAR 2000 and AVENAR 8000 addressable panels — wall and frame-mounted sets, remote keypads, battery management modules
  • FPA series panels — still a large number of installations operating in the field; maintenance and parts support continue, gradual transition to AVENAR is planned if needed
  • LSN loop devices — FAP-425 series optical/heat/chemical/CO multi-sensor detectors, FAH-425 heat detectors, alarm buttons, FNM series sirens
  • FLM-420 interface modules — relay, input/output, signal line, and extinguishing interface modules; all elevator, damper, and extinguishing integrations
  • Special detectors — D296R beam detectors, FAA-500 series recessed in suspended ceiling, conventional FCP lines

What Is Done During Periodic Maintenance?

The maintenance schedule is drawn not by regulation clause but by the standard to which the system is subject: the Regulation on Fire Protection of Buildings leaves the frequency question to the relevant standard; the text to be consulted for fire detection is TS CEN/TS 54-14. The steps envisioned by the standard deepen from short-interval visual inspections that building personnel can perform themselves toward a fully comprehensive field test completed once per year. On the Bosch side, we fill in these steps as follows:

  • Deactivation inspection: list of sealed and forgotten areas, devices, and exits is drawn up; each item is queried individually
  • Contamination and drift reading: Bosch detectors self-compensate for contamination; a detector whose compensation margin approaches the limit is seen numerically from the panel; cleaning and replacement are planned without ceiling-by-ceiling inspection
  • LSN loop measurement: ring integrity is verified from both ends; short-circuit isolators are tested; branches added contrary to the project are detected
  • Power supply tests: mains is cut, transition to battery under load is monitored; non-FPP external power supplies are measured individually
  • Scenario verification: every output including the extinguishing interface module is triggered, traced to the end of the chain
  • Configuration backup: panel program is backed up with PC software and placed in the facility file — this is what saves the facility in case of controller replacement

The headquarters is in Ankara Yenimahalle; instead of setting up a branch network we tour the country in planned regional rounds, preparing each job with remote pre-diagnosis and trying to complete it in one visit. Are you an authorized Bosch service center?

We do not claim to be an authorized service center; we sell Bosch fire detection products and provide maintenance and troubleshooting services. Our catalog lists 300 Bosch products; we perform module replacement, field device testing and overhaul work on FPA and AVENAR panels with our own team. For devices under warranty, we determine which interventions are warranty-covered together with you before commencing work.

The panel has failed; does the entire system need to be replaced?

In most cases, no. Bosch panels are modular: the controller, cycle card, power supply and battery controller are separate units and can be replaced individually. Even the panel controller is available as a spare part in the catalog. With correct diagnosis, the faulty module is replaced, configuration is restored from backup and the system continues for its remaining lifespan. Complete replacement comes into consideration only for very old installations where spare parts are no longer available, in which case a staged transition is planned.

Can we still receive service for our older FPA generation panel?

Yes. There are many FPA generation installations in the field and we provide maintenance, troubleshooting and parts support for these systems. Where parts cannot be sourced, a staged transition to AVENAR is planned; since LSN field devices and a significant portion of existing wiring can often be retained, renewal does not become a facility-wide retrofit. Before deciding, we determine which portions of the existing system can remain operational.

What should the maintenance interval be for Bosch panels?

You will not find a ready-made schedule in the regulations; the Building Fire Protection Regulation leaves frequency to the standard the system complies with, and the applicable text for fire detection is TS CEN/TS 54-14. The standard's levels are roughly as follows: brief daily inspection, monthly indicator and power supply check, quarterly functional test, annual full field inspection. Building personnel can undertake daily visual checks and monthly items; quarterly functional tests and annual comprehensive inspection are the responsibility of qualified service. For dusty, humid and heavily used facilities, intervals should be tightened.

Where do I find the code of the faulty module?

Each unit inside the panel enclosure has a type label; the code is in the format FPE-8000-…, FLM-420-…, FAP-425-…. The error message on the panel display also often indicates the address of the relevant module. If you cannot read the label, a photograph taken with the panel cover open and the screen message are sufficient for us; through remote preliminary diagnosis we will inform you of which module is involved and its stock status.

We are outside Ankara; how does the service work?

Our headquarters is in Ankara Yenimahalle; we do not have branch offices in each province. We visit facilities throughout Turkey with planned regional tours and prepare every job through remote preliminary diagnosis: based on module code, error message and photograph, what needs to be replaced becomes clear in most cases beforehand, the team goes to the site with the correct parts and the job is completed in a single visit. Site inspection is free of charge for facilities within Ankara.
