We provide periodic inspection, functional testing, troubleshooting, and overhaul services for Mavili Maxlogic intelligent addressable and Mavigard series fire detection systems. Period: regulation or standard?
A common mistake is the belief that "regulations require annual maintenance." The Regulation on Fire Protection of Buildings does not itself prescribe the period; it defers to the standard applicable to the system and the manufacturer's manual. On the fire detection side, this standard is TS CEN/TS 54-14and it speaks not of a single annual inspection, but of a graded inspection regime:
- Daily: Visual check that the panel is in quiescent state — is a fault or disabled indicator illuminated?
- Monthly: Inspection of fault indicators and backup power status.
- Quarterly: Review of event logs, zone tests, trial of monitoring and control functions, review of structural changes in the building.
- Annual: Individual testing of field devices and comprehensive system inspection.
Daily and monthly items can be performed by the building operator's own personnel; quarterly and annual items require a qualified service. In dusty, humid, or heavily used facilities (manufacturing, kitchen, parking garage), the period should be tightened.
Maintenance Scope in Maxlogic System
1 · Out-of-service inspection — first item
Maintenance does not begin from the panel display, but from what is shut down. The Maxlogic circuit allows taking offline the zone, individual device, and sirens separately. A zone shut down for renovation and never reopened leaves that area unprotected without generating an alarm on the panel, and this condition may go unnoticed for years. A disabled list is extracted, each item is queried, and unnecessary ones are restored.
2 · Event log readout
The panel lists events both in order of arrival and by category. The aim is not to see individual faults, but to catch recurrence: a device lost monthly is a loose terminal, ground fault appearing with every rain is a junction box that has taken water. A fault corrected without this reading comes back a few months later.
3 · Contamination scan
Maxlogic control panels can perform a contamination scan by circuit or for all circuits and provide results in list form. This is the most valuable output of maintenance: how close each detector is to the threshold is seen numerically, eliminating the need to crawl across ceilings. Those approaching the threshold are cleaned or replaced; figures are entered in the report, so the next inspection reveals which areas are accelerating.
4 · Actual testing of field devices
- Smoke detectors are truly triggered with suitable test aerosol and tested — reading the address with a magnet is not a test
- Heat detectors are operated with a thermal test device
- Fire alarm buttons are tested with a test key; if a model that can be tested without breaking the glass is used, glass replacement is avoided
- In beam detectors, alignment, contamination compensation margin, and obstructions in the beam path are checked
- Sirens and flashers are operated; sound level is measured on site
5 · Circuit and power supply measurements
- The circuit is verified to truly be pulled to the loop (A/B) — an open-ended pulled circuit causes a single break to drop the line behind it
- The function of short-circuit isolators is tested
- Mains is cut and switchover to battery is tested and load behavior under duration is observed; voltage measured while mains is present does not reveal an exhausted battery
- Battery manufacturing date is read, those past their life are replaced; charge circuit output is measured
6 · Scenario and integration verification
A fire panel is not a standalone device: it lowers the elevator, releases the fire door, operates the damper, triggers the announcement system, initiates gas suppression. The place most often left unowned in the field is this interface — in a facility where mechanical maintenance is from one firm and electronic maintenance from another, no one can test this chain end to end. Each scenario is triggered and traced to completion.
7 · Configuration backup
The final step of maintenance is taking a backup of the panel's current setup data and placing it in the facility file. This is the only thing that saves restocking the facility from scratch in case of card replacement or data integrity error.
If your system is Mavigard (legacy series)
Mavigardis the Mavili series before Maxlogic, and many working systems of this type still exist in the field. For these systems:
- Periodic maintenance and troubleshooting can be performed; Mavigard spare parts are in our catalog
- Where parts cannot be found, phased transition is planned — the entire system need not be replaced overnight
- The greatest gain in upgrade is in wiring: a portion of the existing loop cable can often be retained, significantly reducing cost and on-site renovation
Completely renewing an old series system because it is "no longer supported" is often unnecessary expense; first the question of which portions of the existing system can remain operational must be determined.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many times per year should Maxlogic system maintenance be performed?
The regulation does not specify the period itself but defers to the standard. On the fire detection side, TS CEN/TS 54-14 defines a tiered schedule: daily visual inspection, monthly indicator and power supply inspection, quarterly zone and function tests, annual comprehensive inspection. What should be included in the maintenance report?
Maxlogic system reports must include figures: contamination screening results, battery load test duration, items found deactivated and restored, number of devices tested, and scenarios triggered. A report stating "Detectors cleaned, system operational" indicates that available panel measurements were not used. Additionally, records must be retained for submission during audits.

Does the system go offline during maintenance?
During tests, the relevant zone is temporarily deactivated; otherwise, each test would trigger alarm and evacuation. The scope is kept as narrow as possible, the work duration is discussed in advance with building management, and upon completion, written confirmation is obtained that all deactivated items have been restored. If extended shutdown is necessary, temporary supervision is recommended for that period.
Must we upgrade our legacy Mavigard panel to Maxlogic?
It is not mandatory. Maintenance and spare parts service continues for Mavigard systems. At the point where parts become unavailable, a staged migration is planned and much of the existing loop cabling can often be retained—this significantly reduces both the cost of renewal and the extent of facility modification required. Before deciding on complete renewal, it should be determined which portion of the existing system can remain operational.
