From rail system factories to aircraft engine manufacturing, from ceramic kilns to refrigerator lines — Eskişehir's production profile carries fire risks that are unlike one another. This is why we come here not with a single-type checklist, but with maintenance plans divided according to clustering: the hangar's beam detector is tested differently, as is the clean gas room of the motor test cell.
Can a locomotive shed, engine test cell, and ceramic kiln fit on the same checklist?
The center of gravity of Eskişehir's industry is Eskişehir OSB (EOSB), established in 1969 and one of Turkey's oldest organized industrial zones. Eskişehir OSB (EOSB).Three clusters established under EOSB leadership summarize the city's manufacturing identity: rail systems, aerospace, and ceramics. TÜRASAŞ's Eskişehir campus brings together locomotive, bogie, engine, and wagon factories in one area; TEI manufactures aircraft engines and engine parts; Arçelik's refrigerator and compressor operation along with white goods supply industry fills an important portion of the OSB; ceramic producers create a separate process world with kiln and dryer lines.
From a maintenance standpoint, this picture is not uniform. Rail system workshops mean welding sparks, paint booths, and high-ceiling hangars. On the aerospace side, precision machine tools and test cells create areas where contact with water itself is damage. On the white goods line, polyurethane insulation and plastic part stock increases fire load. In ceramics, natural gas-fed kilns create a continuously hot process zone. Looking at four different environments with the same checklist means missing something in all four.
The rough rule is written as follows: foam in rail systems, clean gas in aerospace; the cluster determines the checklist.
| Structure | Highlighted systems | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Rail system workshops: welding, machining, painting | Sprinkler, foam suppression, beam detector | The hangar-type high ceiling renders point detectors insufficient; the paint booth solvent requires foam instead of water. See. factory solutionsA zone monitoring module connects an entire conventional detector line to the addressable loop. Critical areas are renewed with addressable devices while secondary zones continue to operate with their existing wiring. This provides significant cost advantage in capacity upgrade and renovation projects. |
| Aerospace: engine and parts manufacturing | FM-200/Novec gas suppression, addressable detection | The CNC park and measurement laboratory where water damage is as costly as fire; panels and transformer-energy rooms are protected with clean gas. |
| White goods and plastic supply industry | Sprinkler, gas detection, hydrant and pump group | Pentane-class blowing gases used in polyurethane foam injection along with plastic granule and packaging inventory increases the load. See. storage-warehouse solutionsA zone monitoring module connects an entire conventional detector line to the addressable loop. Critical areas are renewed with addressable devices while secondary zones continue to operate with their existing wiring. This provides significant cost advantage in capacity upgrade and renovation projects. |
| Ceramics: kiln and dryer lines | Gas detection, heat-resistant detector types, fire cabinet | The ambient temperature around the kiln deceives the optical detector; what actually needs to be monitored is the natural gas supply line. |
The practical consequence of this diversity is this: from the foam system of the locomotive paint shop to the clean gas of the engine manufacturing facility, from gas detection of the refrigerator line to heat detectors of the ceramic kiln, every system in the city can be consolidated in a single contract; maintenance of the cameras monitoring the hangar area (CCTV) also finds space within the same contract. Running four separate calendars with four separate companies means chasing four separate folders on inspection day.
Cranes swing, water leaks, pentane accumulates — first places checked on discovery
Sliding beam detector in a traveling-crane hangar
In high-ceiling halls of rail system workshops, detection is often solved with beam detectors. Each pass of the traveling crane vibrates the steel structure; the transmitter-receiver alignment shifts millimeter by millimeter and the system first produces faults, then false alarms. On the tour, alignment is checked and corrected, signal level is recorded; optical detector points that should switch to heat type in welding areas are also noted in the report. In the paint booth, foam ratio and concentrate shelf life are checked in the same visit.
A room in precision manufacturing where water cannot enter
In facilities processing engine parts, CNC lines, measurement laboratory, and electrical panels are protected with clean gas systems; because the main assets here are machine tools and measuring equipment that cannot tolerate contact with water. Gas system maintenance answers three questions: is gas staying in the cylinder (weighing and pressure), does gas remain in the room during discharge (door and cable passage sealing), is the trigger chain working (solenoid and actuator testing). If any one of the three is skipped, the system appears ready but is actually empty.
Polyurethane injection and pentane safety
White goods body insulation is done with polyurethane injection and pentane-class flammable blowing gases are used in this process. Here fire maintenance does not end with sprinklers: calibration of gas detection sensors, ventilation interlocks, and inspection of equipment in the injection area are all part of the same tour. In the finished product and packaging warehouse, shelf layout changes every year; whether sprinkler coverage still matches the current stacking plan is compared on-site.
How does proximity to Ankara reflect in Eskişehir's calendar?
We have neither a desk nor a branch in Eskişehir; the maintenance vehicle departs Ankara from the center each time (it explains the operations Ankara maintenance page at the center). Still, this route is at the top of the fastest routes we cover: a distance under three hours by road makes it possible to open additional days to the calendar and manage date changes painlessly. The tour does not only visit EOSB; hotels, hospitals, shopping malls, and campus buildings in Tepebaşı and Odunpazarı are placed among the stops of the same day. The most visible return of this arrangement to the facility is calendar discipline: the maintenance day is set months in advance, reports enter the inspection folder from a single source, and because the same team comes each time, no one has to explain the system's history from scratch. How scope and tour frequency shape maintenance price is explained on a separate page. On the malfunction side, the first step is not to set out: the code shown on the panel along with a few photographs reach us, the scope is clarified while still at the desk, and the vehicle is loaded with the right card and the right cylinder; the visit usually closes in a single trip. You can find the version of this setup at the country scale nationwide service on the page, and the steps of the malfunction flow emergency repair service on the page.
A breakdown of a full maintenance day at EOSB
- Detection: beam detector alignment and signal recording in hangar halls; maintenance and sensitivity check on point detectors, cycle and battery tests; verification of evacuation and lockdown functions in scenario testing.
- Sprinkler and pump group: valve positions in the collector and alarm valve, pump activation pressures, weekly test records maintained by the facility.
- Gas and foam suppression: cylinder weighing and pressure, sealing in clean rooms, ratio and concentrate control in the paint booth; missing cylinders are added to the refill program.
- Gas detection: calibration of sensors in the pentane area and ventilation interlocks; monitoring of natural gas supply in kiln lines.
- Hydrant and fire cabinet: static-dynamic pressure measurement, hose and lance inspection, drainage against Central Anatolia winter.
- Emergency lighting: discharge time measurement, individual marking and inspection of batteries and fixtures.
The standard bases of the list and its full scope periodic inspection is on the page. Material changed on the tour — beam detector with misaligned position, cylinder short on weighing, hose-lance set that barely survived the winter — product stock is covered. Note in a few lines how many detectors in which hall, how many cylinders in which room; you can leave the breakdown written via our contact page or if you prefer you can also provide the same information verbally through You can call numbered line. Let us include your facility in the tour program with the first survey.
To Set Up Your Maintenance Program
One contract, a solution for everything: we provide end-to-end maintenance to fire detection, gas suppression, sprinkler, hydrant, and pump units in their entirety; if you wish, camera (CCTV) system maintenance can also be added to the same contract.
If you do not have the brand, age, and last maintenance record of the existing system on hand, that is not a problem; the first step is anyway inventory and current condition assessment. Setting up an annual program without seeing what is there in the field means selling maintenance for a system that does not exist.
You can examine your system brand's product equivalents in our product catalog ; for requirements specific to your facility's use class, you can visit our sectoral solutions pages.
For survey and quotation you can or send your plan through our write or directly You can call call the number. Survey is free within Ankara; for facilities throughout Turkey, the visit plan is established jointly before contract.
Frequently Asked Questions
We are in a region with harsh winters; how are the open-field hydrant lines and fire cabinets prepared against freezing?
The hydrant line is drained during the autumn round; pockets where water can accumulate and valve chambers are reviewed, pressure measurements are taken and recorded before freezing begins. Hoses and nozzles in exterior fire cabinets are inspected before winter; if there is a line with no drainage capability, an improvement recommendation is written in the report.
We have a traveling crane in our workshop and beam detectors frequently go into fault mode; what is the permanent solution?
The fault is mostly at the transmitter-receiver alignment, disrupted by vibration. During maintenance, alignment is measured, signal level is recorded and compared with the previous round; if the mounting point is affected by vibration, a carrier modification is recommended. In chronic cases, the option of transitioning to air sampling (aspirating) detection is reported together with measurement results.
Pentane is used in our polyurethane injection line; does standard fire maintenance cover this?
It covers it if written in the contract and it should be written. In the pentane area, calibration of gas detection sensors, testing of ventilation interlocks and inspection of zone equipment are scheduled separately on the calendar; sprinkler design is also compared with the current stacking plan.
In our ceramics factory, detectors around the kiln constantly alarm from heat; can detector type change be done during maintenance?
Yes. For the kiln area, a heat detector of the class appropriate to ambient temperature is selected; incorrect type is identified during inspection, replacement is performed in the same round or through a planned follow-up visit. In the kiln area, the natural gas supply line is what should primarily be monitored; if gas detection is absent, it is written as a recommendation in the report.
A fault light is on in the panel but the system appears to be working; should we wait for the next Eskişehir round?
Do not wait; the fault light in most panels indicates that a circuit, power supply, or battery has been disabled. When you provide the fault code and a photo of the panel, an initial assessment is made without delay; if the panel is critical, it is not tied to the dispatch schedule. The short length of the Eskişehir line makes scheduling easier for us compared to other provinces.
