The first task in fire suppression system installation is not laying pipes, but answering an engineering question: what flow rate, what pressure, and what concentration will extinguish the fire in this space? As ASPEK, we design, install, test, and commission sprinkler, gaseous, foam, and hood suppression systems. Our principle: pipes are not laid based on assumptions

The most expensive mistake in the field is a pipe diameter copied from a neighboring facility and a pump selected "just to be safe" because it is larger. wheeled devices must have sprinkler design is based not on assumption but on hazard classification: design density (mm/min) and operating area are determined according to the space's use, then hydraulic calculation proves that even the sprinkler head in the most unfavorable position will receive this water flow. A system without calculations appears trouble-free in peacetime; in a real fire, the sprinkler heads at the end of the line cannot receive water, and this deficiency remains an undiscovered fault until that day.

The same principle applies to other systems: in gaseous suppression, the extinguishing agent concentration is calculated from the space's net volume; in foam systems, the application flow rate is calculated from the type of liquid being protected. Every quotation we provide is accompanied by a report of this calculation — a suppression quotation should be compared by calculation, not by square meter.

Gaseous suppression installation ends once integrity testing is passed

The most frequently overlooked step in gaseous systems installed in server rooms, archives, transformer and control panel rooms is space integrity (door-fan) testing.The calculation may be correct, the cylinders full, the piping flawless; gas escaping from the gap under the door or through a cable tray opening reduces the concentration below the required holding time. We do not hand over gaseous installation without passing integrity testing; the test report is part of the delivery documentation.

Hood and foam systems

In industrial kitchens, nozzle placement is not based on a ready template but on the actual location of the stove and fryer; if equipment location changes, the system must be reassessed. For fuel storage tanks, generator rooms, and filling islands, we design foam systems; foam concentrate compatibility with the protected liquid (especially in alcohol derivatives) is clarified before installation.

Pump and tank: from calculation, not from catalog

Pump is selected not "according to the building" but according to the flow-pressure point provided by the hydraulic calculation; tank volume is derived from multiplying this flow rate by the design duration tied to the hazard classification. We deliver the pump room in TS EN 12845 arrangement:

  • Main pump + jockey pump stage and pressure switch settings
  • Check of suction conditions and tank connection
  • Test line and flow meter — so the pump's actual curve can be measured in the field
  • Fuel, exhaust, and ventilation arrangement for diesel pump systems

Commissioning and fire authority approval

The system is not considered delivered on the day installation is completed. The pipe line is hydrostatically tested, flow is obtained from the most distant test valve, the gaseous system is tested with dual detector confirmation and discharge delay scenario, detection-suppression integration is traced end-to-end. For fire authority inspection, we prepare a file consisting of as-built drawings, calculation reports, and test records; we are present at the facility on the inspection day. For systems installed by another firm but not yet commissioned, we provide commissioning and testing services separately.

After installation: maintenance schedule

Maintenance frequency is determined not by regulation text but by the standard to which the system is subject: for sprinkler and pump TS EN 12845 through NFPA 25, for gaseous TS ISO 14520, for hood NFPA 96/17A and TS 11827 are taken as the basis and written into the contract. We establish a maintenance calendar for every system we install; we can consolidate all systems from the detection panel to the suppression cylinder in a single maintenance contract, and for requesting customers we add CCTV maintenance to the same visit. Frequently Asked Questions

What should we send for a sprinkler installation quote?

The compartment's length-width-height dimensions, occupancy type (warehouse, manufacturing, office, parking, etc.), storage height and material type if applicable, available water source information, and architectural plan if available—these are sufficient. With this information, we determine the hazard classification and perform preliminary sizing based on TS EN 12845 hydraulic calculation; our quotation is not a square-meter estimate but the output of this calculation.

What is compartment integrity (door-fan) testing and why do you require it?

A fan installed in the doorway pressurizes the compartment and measures total leakage area; from this, we calculate how long the gas will maintain suppression concentration. TS ISO 14520 suppression requires a minimum hold time. Without testing, even the most accurate calculation and a full cylinder will fail in a leaking compartment; this is why we do not deliver gaseous installations without passing an integrity test.

How is fire pump and water tank size determined?

The flow-pressure point from the hydraulic calculation for the most unfavorable compartment is matched to the pump curve; tank volume is found by multiplying this flow by the design duration for the hazard classification. An "oversizing approach" does not provide safety: an oversized pump can create excessive pressure and operational problems. During commissioning, flow is taken from the test line to verify the pump's actual curve in the field.

Can a suppression system be installed in an existing building?

Yes; in existing buildings we plan installation floor-by-floor or zone-by-zone, scheduling connections requiring downtime outside business hours. Integration with existing fire detection systems and obstacles such as suspended ceilings and cable trays are identified during the site survey; piping routes are designed accordingly. Keeping the facility operational is feasible in most installations, but this planning must be done before installation begins.

What documents do you provide for fire authority inspection?

The delivery file contains as-built project documentation, TS EN 12845 hydraulic calculation report or gas system concentration calculation, hydrostatic test and flow test records, compartment integrity test report for gaseous systems, and commissioning certificate. We are present at inspection; for any deficiencies found, we prepare the correction plan.

Do you perform commissioning only if you did not install the system?

Yes. For systems where another company completed installation but could not deliver, we first compare the existing installation against calculations and document any deficiencies in writing; then we perform testing and commissioning.
