An intrinsically safe addressed optical smoke detector connected to the XP95 circuit for explosive atmospheres. By measuring the light scattering of smoke entering its chamber, it detects combustion before it reaches the flame stage and reports to the panel with its own address, thus eliminating the need to search for which point detected the smoke. It cannot be connected to the circuit without an intrinsically safe barrier interposed between it and the circuit.
