The microphone's distance from the source directly changes the tone; at close range the bass region increases, as distance increases more room reflections enter the recording. Elastic suspension cuts vibration from the stand. A windscreen softens the air burst of plosive consonants. The condenser capsule operates with power supplied from the mixer.
