Cardioid studio recording microphone. The cardioid pattern captures sound from the front while suppressing sound from the rear. This behavior is the most practical solution enabling recording in rooms with limited acoustic isolation. An elastic suspension prevents vibration from the stand from entering the recording. A windscreen cuts off the air burst produced by plosive consonants. It requires 48-volt phantom power from the line to operate.
