ESFR (Early Suppression Fast Response) is a sprinkler head category that in high-rack warehouses aims not merely to control fire but to SUPPRESS it in the early stage. Thanks to its high K-factor, it produces much larger water droplets; these droplets can penetrate the rising hot gas stream and reach the surface of the burning material. When properly applied, it can eliminate the need for in-rack sprinkler heads; however, it is subject to very strict conditions regarding ceiling height and storage configuration.
