ML-2440/M is a protected conventional sounder produced for open decks and semi-protected compartments. It performs the same audible alarm function as the indoor sounder, with the difference being its housing is protected against external influences. It is marine-certified and is used in moist areas of marine vessels. While an unprotected device would fail in a short time in a rain-exposed passageway, the protected enclosure eliminates the need for repeated scaffolding during replacement.
