ML-1170/M is a marine type intelligent addressable beam detector consisting of receiver and transmitter units mounted opposite each other. Its difference from point marine devices is that instead of installing detectors one by one on the ceiling, it establishes a beam line that scans the entire volume. It is used in ro-ro decks, large cargo holds, and high engine compartments. Since it is connected to an addressable circuit, which beam line detects smoke is read at the control panel and the crew is directed directly to that deck.
