The base on which the short-circuit isolator unit sits. Circuit wires are connected to the base terminals, and the unit is mounted on top; thus in case of fault or maintenance, the unit can be removed and replaced without touching the cable. Completion of wiring before the unit arrives also facilitates the commissioning sequence.
