The Honeywell XLS-PSI intelligent photoelectric smoke detector converts analog information collected from its own sensing element into a digital signal. The microprocessor on the circuit board processes this data and generates the alarm decision within the detector itself. Generating the decision at the detector reduces the load on the line to the panel and ensures local detection continues even if communication is interrupted.
