The SD119-2L is a conventional optical smoke detector supplied together with its socket. The optical principle measures light scattering as it strikes smoke particles; therefore it responds quickly to fires producing large-particle, visible smoke. Conversely, it is less sensitive to very fine particles that do not produce visible smoke. This behavior necessitates that detector selection be decided according to the expected fire type in the given environment.
