A redundant serial interface unit used in high-speed essernet backbones. Operating at 500 kBd speed, it enables the establishment of systems growing up to thirty-one nodes on the backbone and up to 321 control panels in total with sixteen subnets. Subnets operate connected to the backbone; information is transmitted upward and commands downward, with subnets unable to communicate directly with each other. It is preferred for projects with hundreds of control panels, such as airports or large industrial facilities.
