The LCON interface module is used to actively couple RS-485 two-wire data paths with fiber optic transmission lines. In installations where numerous switching groups or extended cabling disrupts communications, fiber lines replace copper routing. It is preferred in projects where distance poses challenges, such as campus facilities, separate blocks, and industrial plants. On the German-manufactured Detectomat network, the line remains isolated from electrical noise.
