The AW-D616 is a standalone heat alarm unit with an internal siren that operates independently without connection to a fire panel. It activates when the ambient temperature reaches 57°C (A2R class fixed temperature threshold) or when a temperature rise exceeding 10°C is detected within 2 minutes; this dual-trigger feature makes it suitable for dusty or steamy spaces such as kitchens, garages, boiler rooms, and attics where smoke detectors may produce false alarms. The alarm sound level is at least 85 dB at 3 meters. It is powered by a CR123 lithium battery rated at 3 VDC, which is permanently installed and non-replaceable within the unit; since battery life is at least 10 years, the unit requires no maintenance during this period and is replaced entirely with a new unit when the period expires. The device is not a detector within the scope of EN 54-5; the manufacturer's declaration applies to the BS 5446-2 standard for standalone heat alarms, therefore it is not intended for inclusion in addressable or conventional panel circuits.
